Third Annual “Mini Whoop Drone Racing 2025” International Competition Held with Ucom’s Support

On May 25, the third annual international Mini Whoop Drone Racing 2025 competition took place at the Gazprom Armenia Educational and Sports Complex in Yerevan, organized by the ArmDrone Community NGO with the support of Ucom.

The competition gathered over 40 participants aged 11 to 60, representing Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The participants ranged from beginners to experienced operators, some of whom had previously competed in various international tournaments.

The competition featured three categories – beginner, intermediate, and professional – designed to include drone operators of all skill levels.

The main objectives of the annual event are to promote the development of FPV (First-Person View) drone racing in Armenia, raise public awareness about unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), foster technological education and youth engagement, and create a collaborative platform for professionals in the field.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, Ucom actively supports initiatives aimed at advancing Armenia’s technological development. I’m thrilled to see Armenian youth engaging in such meaningful initiatives, while also building international connections for our country,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

“This year, participation nearly tripled, and for the first time, we held a pre-selection round involving leading teams and participants from new countries. This growth demonstrates that FPV drone racing is gaining significant attention both regionally and globally,” said Hayk Karapetyan, founder of the ArmDrone Community NGO.

Winners were announced in all three categories – beginner, intermediate, and professional – with Levon Karapetyan (1st place), Sargis Mkrtchyan (2nd place), and Vahagn Hovhannisyan (3rd place) taking the top spots in the beginner category, Gevorg Gabrielyan (1st place), Sedrak Khachatryan (2nd place), and Davit Davtyan (3rd place) in the intermediate category, and Daniil Tolstoukhov (1st place), Dima Svetlov (2nd place), and Evgeni Stashkevich (3rd place) in the professional category, respectively.

A special prize from Ucom, as the event’s main sponsor, was awarded by Mr. Yirikian to Robert Mughdusyan.

The top participants from Armenia will have the opportunity to represent the country at an upcoming international tournament in Georgia.

The ArmDrone Community NGO was founded in 2022 with the aim of advancing the role and application of UAVs in various fields in Armenia during this technological era, establishing a community, fostering a culture of unmanned aerial vehicles, and developing internationally recognized Drone Racing as a sport while training qualified specialists.
