Ցավոք սրտի օրեցօր ավելանում է անտեսված ու ընտանիքի կողմից լքված երեխաների թիվը: Հարավային Կորեայում մայրերը երեխաներին թողնում են անգամ փողոցում, որտեղ երեխաները բնականաբար մահանում են: Տեսնելով դառը իրականությունը՝ տեղական հոգևոր հովիվներից մեկը՝ Լի Չոն-Րակը, որոշում է վերջնականապես փոխել իրավիճակն ու օգնել այնքան երեխաների, որքան որ կներեին նրա ուժերը:

Իր կնոջ հետ Լին սկսել է մի նախագիծ, որն անվանել է «Կյանքի պատուհաններ»:

Մի օր հովվի մոտ մի երեխա է հայտնվում: Այդ պահին նա հասկանում է, որ դա եզակ դեպք չէ, ու որ ամեն օր հազարավոր երեխաներ հայտնվում են նույն իրավիճակում: Մի քանի րոպեում նա որոշում է փոխել ստեղծված իրավիճակը:

Գաղափարը կայանում էր նրանում, որ տղամարդը իր տան կողքն հատուկ արկղ է ամրացնում, որտեղ այն ծնողները, ովքեր պատրաստվում էին փողոցում թողնել իրենց երեխաներին, կարող են նրանց դնել այդտեղ:

Տղամարդու քայլի մասին անգամ դոկումենտալ ֆիլմ են նկարել: Ֆիլմում նա պատմում է, թե ինչպես է իր նախագիծը հաջողություն ունեցել: Հատուկ խցիկը տղամարդը տեղադրել է դեռևս 2009-ին, ու այս տարիների ընթացքում դրա միջոցով փրկվել է ավելի քան 1000 երեխա:

«Մայրերից մեկն ինձ ասել է, որ ինքը պատրաստվում էր իր ու երեխայի կյանքին վերջ տալ թունավորմամբ: Եթե չլիներ «Կյանքի պատուհանը», դա անխուսափելի կլիներ»-ասում է հովիվը:

Շատերը մեղադրում են տղամարդուն՝ ասելով, որ նա շատ ծնողների ստիպում է հրաժարվել իրենց երեխաներից, քանի որ բարենպաստ պայմաններ է ստեղծում: Միայն 2013 թվականին այնտեղ հայտնվել էր 224 երեխա: Իշխանությունները 2012-ին, սակայն, արգելել էին նման գործունեություն ծավալել:
