Աղջիկը պատրաստվում էր ամուսնանալ և մորը հարցրեց.
-Մայրի՛կ, ինչ պետք է անեմ, որպեսզի լավ կին լինեմ ամուսնուս համար:

-Դու պետք է աշխատասեր լինես, տունը մշտապես մաքուր պահես, ցանկապատը ներկես, նաև համով բաներ պատրաստես:

Հարսանիքից հետո աղջիկը գիշերն արթնացնում է սկեսրոջը և ասում.
-Մայրի՛կ, արի՛ գնանք տունը դրսից ներկենք:

-Ի՞նչ ես խոսում, դրսում գիշեր է,- պատասխանում է սկեսուրը:
-Ոչի՜նչ, արի՛ գնանք, աշխատել է պետք,- պնդում է հարսը:
-Բայց մենք վրձին չունենք:
-Ոչի՜նչ, հայրիկի մորուքը կկտրենք և մեզ համար վրձին կպատրաստենք:

Հարս ու սկեսուր այդպես էլ արեցին: Առավոտյան տնակը դրսից ներկված էր:

Հաջորդ գիշերը ամեն ինչ կրկնվեց.
-Մայրի՛կ, արի՛ այսօր էլ ցանկապատը ներկենք,- ասում է հարսը:

Սկեսուրը նորից պատասխանում է, որ համապատասխան վրձին չունեն:
-Ոչի՜նչ, հայրիկի բեղերը կկտրենք և կներկենք:

Առավոտյան ցանկապատն ամբողջովին սպիտակ էր, միայն թե սկեսրայրը բարձրացել էր ծառը և չէր իջնում:

Երեկոյան, երբ նորափեսան տուն եկավ, տեսավ, որ հայրը նստած է ծառի վրա և ասաց.
-Հայրի՛կ, ինչո՞ւ ես ծառը բարձրացել, ցած իջի՛ր:

Ի պատասխան՝ հայրը բղավում է.
-Դու որտեղի՞ց ես այդ աշխատասեր «վարակ»-ին գտել: Առաջին օրը տնակը ներկելու համար մորուքս կտրեց, երկրորդ օրը ցանկապատը ներկելու համար բեղերս կտրեց, իսկ այսօր ինչ-որ բան թխել է ուզում, իսկ տանը ոչ մի հատ ՁՈՒ չկա:
