Գերմանիան մտադիր չէ ճանաչել Պաղեստինի պետականությունը՝ չնայած իր որոշ գործընկերների դիրքորոշմանը։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Ֆրիդրիխ Մերցը Կանադայի վարչապետ Մարկ Քառնիի հետ համատեղ մամուլի ասուլիսում, փոխանցում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:

«Մենք չենք միանա այս նախաձեռնությանը [Պաղեստինի ճանաչումը]: Մենք կարծում ենք, որ պետականության ճանաչման պայմանները ոչ մի կերպ չեն կատարվել»,-ասել է Մերցը՝ ավելացնելով. «Վերջին օրերի և ժամերի իրադարձությունները չեն փոխել մեր դիրքորոշումը այս հարցում»:

Մերցն ասել է, որ Գերմանիայի իշխանությունները նույնպես մտադիր չեն ճանաչել Պաղեստինը ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի նստաշրջանում։
