Սաուդյան Արաբիայում մշակվել է սառեցնող ծածկույթ արևային մոդուլները գերտաքացումից պաշտպանելու համար

Հետազոտողների խոսքով նատրիումի պոլիակրիլատն էժան պոլիմեր է։ Բացի այդ, այն իր արտադրության մեջ չի օգտագործում շրջակա միջավայրի համար վնասակար քիմիական նյութեր, ի տարբերություն պասիվ սառեցման ծածկույթների համար օգտագործվող նմանատիպ նյութերի։

Նոր նյութը փորձարկելու համար դրանով մշակվել են արևային մոդուլներ։ Հետևի կողմին քսվել է 10 մմ հաստությամբ շերտ։ Այնուհետև մոդուլները տեղադրվել են Սաուդյան անապատում։ Համեմատության համար տեղադրվել են նաև ավանդական ֆոտովոլտային մոդուլներ։ Հատուկ ծածկույթով մոդուլները 9.4°C-ով ավելի զով են եղել։ Դրանք աշխատել են 12.9 տոկոսով ավելի արդյունավետ ավելի շատ արևի լույս վերածելով էներգիայի։ Միևնույն ժամանակ ծառայության ժամկետն ավելացել է ավելի քան 200 տոկոսով։ Հետազոտողների կարծիքով, այս լուծումը կապահովի արևի լույսից էլեկտրաէներգիա արտադրելու գրեթե 20 տոկոս խնայողություն։

Նյութի դիմացկունությունն ու ֆունկցիոնալությունը ստուգելու համար փորձարկումներ են անցկացվել նաև այլ վայրերում։ Օրինակ անձրևոտ եղանակներին ԱՄՆ-ի զով շրջաններում են փորձարկումներ անցկացվել, որոնք ցույց են տվել, որ պասիվ սառեցումը գործում է նույնիսկ նման շրջակա միջավայրի պայմաններում։ Ներկայումս այդ ծածկույթի սերիական արտադրության պատրաստ լինելու ժամկետներ չեն ներկայացվել։
