Այսօր մենք նշում ենք մեր պատմության ամենակարևոր օրերից մեկը

1918 թ․ մայիսի 28-ին հռչակվեց Հայաստանի Առաջին Հանրապետությունը՝ Սարդարապատի, Բաշ Ապարանի ու Ղարաքիլիսայի հերոսական ճակատամարտերից հետո։ Այս մասին Հանրապետության տոնի առթիվ գրել է «Հայաստանը ես եմ» նախաձեռնության ղեկավար Նաիրի Սարգսյանը:

«Սա հայ ժողովրդի հավատքի, միասնականության և պայքարի հաղթանակն էր։

Դարեր շարունակ զրկված լինելով անկախ պետականությունից՝ մենք ապացուցեցինք, որ կարող ենք կանգնել մեզնից անհամեմատ մեծ ուժերի դիմաց և հաղթել։

Սա ոչ միայն պետականության վերականգնում էր, այլև ամբողջ ազգի միասնական կամքի, տոկունության ու հերոսության հաղթանակ։

Այս օրը մենք հիշում ենք մեր այն հերոսներին, ովքեր սեփական կյանքի գնով կերտեցին անկախության հնարավորությունը։

Մենք խոնարհվում ենք նրանց հիշատակի առաջ և պարտավորված ենք պահպանել այն արժեքները, որոնց վրա հիմնվեց Առաջին Հանրապետությունը՝ ազատություն, արդարություն և ազգային ինքնություն։

Մայիսի 28-ը նաև հիշեցում է մեզ, որ անկախությունը հենց այնպես չի տրվում․ այն ձեռք է բերվում պայքարով և պահպանվում է միասնությամբ։
Թող այս օրը մեր նոր սերունդների համար դառնա ոգեշնչման աղբյուր, որպեսզի երբեք չմոռանանք՝ ով ենք մենք, որտեղից ենք գալիս և ուր ենք գնում։
