ԱՄՆ փոխնախագահ Քամալա Հարիսը մեկնաբանել է նախագահ Ջո Բայդենի՝ ընտրապայքարից հեռանալու և նոյեմբերին կայանալիք ընտրություններում իրեն՝ որպես դեմոկրատական կուսակցության միասնական թեկնածու սատարելու որոշումը:

«Շնորհակալ եմ Ջո Բայդենին Միացյալ Նահանգների նախագահի պաշտոնում արտակարգ առաջնորդության և մեր երկրին տասնամյակներ շարունակ ծառայելու համար։ Ինձ համար պատիվ է ստանալ նախագահի սատարումը, և ես մտադիր եմ արժանի լինել և հաղթել այս թեկնածությունում: Ես կանեմ ինձնից կախված ամեն ինչ՝ միավորելու Դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունը, միավորելու մեր ազգը և հաղթելու Դոնալդ Թրամփին և նրա ծայրահեղեղական Project 2025 օրակարգը։ Եթե դուք ինձ հետ եք, ապա նվիրատվություն արեք հենց հիմա», - գրել է նա X-ում:

Նախօրեին Ջո Բայդենը հայտարարել էր, որ չի մնա 2024 թվականի նախագահական մրցավազքում՝ իր աջակցությունը հայտնելով իր փոխնախագահ Քամալա Հարիսին։Իր նամակում Բայդենը Հարիսին անվանել էր «արտակարգ գործընկեր» և ասել, որ նրան փոխնախագահի պաշտոնում ընտրելը «իր կայացրած լավագույն որոշումն է»:

«Այսօր ցանկանում եմ առաջարկել իմ լիակատար աջակցությունը, որպեսզի Քամալան լինի մեր կուսակցության այս տարվա թեկնածուն», - ասել էր Բայդենը:
