Ռուսներն իսկապես ցանկանում են մաս կազմել հայ-ադրբեջանական սահմանազատման գործընթացին և ռուս սահմանապահներին տեղափոխել Հայաստան-Ադրբեջան սահմանին. այս մասին «Ազատության» հետ զրույցում ասել է ղարաբաղյան հակամարտության մասնագետ, Քարնեգի հիմնադրամի ավագ փորձագետ Թոմաս դը Վաալը:

«Ռուսներն իսկապես ցանկանում են մաս կազմել հայ-ադրբեջանական սահմանազատման գործընթացին Արտաքին գործերի նախարար Լավրովն ասել է՝ «գիտեք, մենք ունենք լավագույն քարտեզները։ Այսպիսով, դուք պետք է գաք մեզ մոտ՝ որոշելու, թե որտեղով է անցնում սահմանը»: Եվ այստեղ օրակարգն այն է, որ ուզում են ռուս սահմանապահներին տեղափոխել Հայաստան-Ադրբեջան սահմանին։ Դուք, ի հարկե, ունեք ռուս սահմանապահներ Թուրքիայի սահմանին, Իրանի սահմանին։ Նրանք շատ են ուզում, որ այդ սահմանապահները լինեն նաև Հայաստան-Ադրբեջան սահմանին», - ասել է Թոմաս դը Վաալը:

Վերջինիս կարծիքով՝ Հայաստանն ու Ադրբեջանն ընդհանուր մի բան ունեն. երկուսն էլ չեն ցանկանում, որ ռուս սահմանապահները այնտեղ լինեն:

«Այսպիսով, կրկին, կարծում եմ, պարոն Փաշնիյանի կողմից այս ժեստը, այս գյուղերի վերադարձը պետք է դիտարկել որպես Ռուսաստանին հետ մղելու փորձի մի մաս: Միևնույն ժամանակ, կա մի կարևոր բան, որի մասին մենք պետք է խոսենք, մենք ամեն անգամ խոսում ենք դրա մասին, բայց դա դեռևս աներևակայելի կարևոր է: Սա այսպես կոչված «Զանգեզուրի միջանցքն» է՝ Մեղրիով Նախիջևան տանող երթուղին։ Ես բավականին անհանգստացած եմ, որ այս հարցում Ռուսաստանն ու Ադրբեջանը համագործակցում են», - եզրափակել է փորձագետը:
