Եվրոպական երկրների վրա ԱՄՆ-ի բացած «պաշտպանական հովանոցը», որի վրա Եվրոպան հույս է դրել Սառը պատերազմից ի վեր, կարող է փակվել, ուստի Եվրամիությունը պետք է ապավինի միայն իր ուժերին: Այս մասին հայտարարել է ԵՄ դիվանագիտական ծառայության ղեկավար Ժոզեպ Բորելը Բրյուսելում համաժողովի ժամանակ ելույթի ժամանակ, փոխանցում է euractiv.com-ը։

Նրա խոսքով՝ Եվրոպայում լայնածավալ հակամարտությունն այլևս ֆանտազիա չէ, և եվրոպացիները պետք է նոր ուղիներ գտնեն՝ ֆինանսապես պատրաստվելու մայրցամաքում հնարավոր ավելի լայն պատերազմին, նախազգուշացրել է ԵՄ գլխավոր դիվանագետը:

«Մեր շուրջը, անշուշտ, պատերազմ է երևում…, և Եվրոպայում բարձր ինտենսիվության պատերազմն այլևս ֆանտազիա չէ: Ռուսաստանը սպառնում է Եվրոպային Ուկրաինայում իր պատերազմով և ԵՄ անդամ երկրների վրա հիբրիդային հարձակումներով: Պատերազմը վաղը չի սկսվելու, բայց մենք չենք կարող ժխտել իրականությունը», - ասել է Բորելը Բրյուսելում տնտեսական ֆորումում ունեցած ելույթում:

Բորելն անդրադարձել է եվրոպացիների աճող վախին ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հնարավոր վերընտրման կապակցությամբ. Թրամփը սպառնացել է չպաշտպանել Եվրոպայում ՆԱՏՕ-ի դաշնակիցներին, որոնք բավարար չեն ծախսում ՆԱՏՕ-ի շրջանակում պաշտպանության վրա:

«ԱՄՆ անվտանգային հովանոցը, որին մենք ապավինել ենք Սառը պատերազմից ի վեր, կարող է միշտ բաց չլինել: Միգուցե, կախված նրանից, թե ով է կառավարում Վաշինգտոնում, մենք չկարողանանք ապավինել Ամերիկային մեզ պաշտպանելու համար: Դաշինքի շրջանակներում առանձին անդամների առաջնահերթությունները կարող են փոխվել»,- հավելել է նա:
