Lukashenko offers Aliyev help in restoring occupied territories of Artsakh
Not a single pandemic can hinder cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, BelTA reported.
According to him, the countries have diversified their relations in politics and economics, and they are not burdened by anything.
“We do not interfere with anyone, and no one tries not to interfere with us. Because if you want to do something, it is difficult to prevent it,” he said.
Last year, the trade turnover between Belarus and Azerbaijan approached half a billion dollars. Lukashenko thinks this is a good result in terms of dynamics.
“As for our political relations, it is difficult to say what we are missing. We have a brilliant relationship. And I am always proud of that. We have restored the warmest relations since the Soviet Union in all areas,” he noted.
Lukashenko also offered support from Belarus "in the restoration of the territories affected by the recent conflict [in Nagorno-Karabakh - ed.]." “We talked about this for a very long time yesterday. I am very glad that you, as a true friend of the Belarusian people, understand that there is so much more work ahead. Hard work, peaceful work. And you should know that your reliable friends are in Belarus. You know our capabilities. Today we will discuss it again with ministers and specialists. If we come to an agreement (we have always had this), we will always implement our agreements.”
