Ճանաչել Ցեղասպանությունն ու ակտիվ լինել Ադրբեջանում հայ գերիների վերադարձի հարցում. Մենենդեսի կոչը Բայդենի վարչակազմին

ԱՄՆ-ի Սենատի Արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Բոբ Մենենդեսը պահանջում է նախագահ Բայդենի վարչակազմից միանալ Կոնգրեսին և ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը, ինչպես նաև աշխատել Ադրբեջանի կառավարության կողմից ապօրինի պահվող հայ գերիներին ազատելու ուղղությամբ: Այս մասին տեղեկացնում է ԱՄՆ Հայ դատի հանձնախումբը:

«Ես հույս ունեմ, որ նախագահը կպահպանի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչելու իր հանձնառությունը: ԱՄՆ-ի Սենատը միաձայն ընդունել է այն և ես հպարտ եմ, որ նախորդ տարի հովանավորել եմ այն: Ներկայացուցիչների պալատը նույնպես ընդունել է: Ժամանակն է, որ ԱՄՆ նախագահն անի այն, ինչ Կոնգրեսի մնացած հատվածը, որպես Ամերիկայի ժողովրդի ներկայացուցիչ՝ ճանաչելով Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը»,-ասել է սենատորը:

Նշվում է, որ Մենենդեսը սկսել է դիմել Սենատի գործընկերներին, որպեսզի միանան իրեն ՝ համատեղ նամակ ուղարկելու նախագահ Բայդենին, որով կոչ կարվի ապրիլի 24-ի հայտարարության մեջ պատշաճ կերպով բնութագրել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը: Սենատորը նաև շարունակում է կոչ անել, որ ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի շրջանակում ԱՄՆ-ն ավելի ակտիվ լինի, ներառյալ Ադրբեջանում անօրինական պահվող ռազմագերիներին ու քաղաքացիական անձանց ազատ արձակելու ուղղությամբ:

«Լինի Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը, թե հայ ռազմագերիների ազատ արձակումը, սենատոր Մենենդեսը սկզբունքային, ուժեղ, համառ պաշտպան է՝ արդյունավետ առաջ տանելով ինչպես ԱՄՆ-ի շահերը, այնպես էլ Ամերիկայի արժեքները»,-ասել է Հայ դատի հանձնախմբի անդամ Անի Չաղլասյանը:
