Թուրքիան և Ադրբեջանը հերքում են Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի տարածաշրջանում սիրիացի վարձկանների կռվելու փաստը, սակայն նրանցից 4-ը BBC News-ի հետ զրույցում հայտնել են, որ իրենց սկզբնապես հավաքագրել են Ադրբեջանում պահակային ծառայության մասնակցելու համար, սակայն անսպասելիորեն ուղարկել են ռազմաճակատի առաջնագիծ:

Սիրիացիներից մեկի խոսքով՝ Ադրբեջանում առաջարկվող «աշխատանքի» մասին երկրի հյուսիսային շրջաններում լուրեր տարածվել սկսել են այս տարվա օգոստոսին:

«Ընկերներիցս մեկն ինձ ասաց, որ շատ լավ աշխատանք կա, որ կարելի է անել, պետք է պարզապես լինել Ադրբեջանի ռազմական անցակետերում»,- պատմել է վարձկաններից մեկը:

Մեկ այլ վարձկանի խոսքով՝ իրենց աշխատանք են առաջարկել որպես սահմանային խաղաղապահներ, որի համար իրենց ամսական 2000 դոլար էին առաջարկում:   

Սակայն իրականում աշխատանքն այն չէր, ինչ իրենք մտածում էին: «Ես ողջ մնալու հույս չունեի, մահը մեր շուրջբոլորն էր»,- ասել է պարբերականի զրուցակիցը:
