Ազատությունը չի կարող լիարժեք լինել, երբ այն ուղեկցվում է վախով, ճնշմամբ և անվստահությամբ։ Այս մասին իր ֆեյսբուքյան էջում գրել է «Հայաստանը ես եմ» քաղաքական նախաձեռնության ղեկավար Նաիրի Սարգսյանը՝ շնորհավորելով Մամուլի ազատության համաշխարհային օրվա առթիվ։

«Հարգելի՛ գործընկերներ, լրագրողներ և խոսքի ազատության պաշտպաններ ու ջատագովներ,

Շնորհավորում եմ ձեզ Մամուլի ազատության համաշխարհային օրվա առթիվ։

Մամուլի ազատությունը ժողովրդավարության առանցքային հիմնասյուներից է։ Այն ոչ միայն տեղեկատվություն փոխանցելու գործիք է, այլ նաև հանրային վերահսկողության, հաշվետվողականության և արդարության ապահովման կարևոր մեխանիզմ։ Ազատ ու անկախ մամուլը հասարակության ձայնն է՝ երբեմն անհարմար, երբեմն սուր և կտրուկ, բայց միշտ կարևոր ու անհրաժեշտ։

Սակայն այսօր, ցավոք, մենք ապրում ենք մի իրականության մեջ, որտեղ մամուլի ազատությունը գնահատվում է նաև գործնական միջավայրով։ Եվ այդ միջավայրը հաճախ լի է ոչ միայն բացահայտ սահմանափակումներով, այլ նաև անտեսանելի, բայց ոչ պակաս վտանգավոր ճնշումներով։ Բռնաճնշումը միայն ֆիզիկական բռնությունը չէ։ Այն նաև հոգեբանական ճնշումն է, սպառնալիքների մթնոլորտը, լրագրողների և լրատվամիջոցների համակարգված թիրախավորումը, պիտակավորումն ու վարկաբեկումը։

Այսօր հաճախ է հնչում՝ «մամուլը երբևէ այսքան ազատ չի եղել» արտահայտությունը։ Գուցե կան մարդիկ, ովքեր համակարծիք են այս ձևակերպման հետ, բայց մամուլի ներկայացուցիչները, ովքեր ամեն օր գործում են մեդիա դաշտում, այդ խմբում չեն, որովհետև իրականում մամուլը ոչ թե այսքան ազատ, այլ երբեք այսքան թիրախավորված չի եղել։

Ազատությունը չի կարող լիարժեք լինել, երբ այն ուղեկցվում է վախով, ճնշմամբ և անվստահությամբ։

Մեր պարտքն է ոչ միայն խոսել մամուլի ազատության մասին, այլ նաև ապահովել այնպիսի միջավայր, որտեղ լրագրողը կարող է գործել առանց ճնշման, առանց վախի և առանց ինքնագրաքննության։ Որտեղ քննադատությունը չի դիտվում որպես սպառնալիք, այլ ընկալվում է որպես զարգացման հնարավորություն։

Այս օրը ևս մեկ հիշեցում է, որ ազատ խոսքը պետք է ոչ միայն պաշտպանել, այլ նաև արժևորել ամեն օր։
