Թիմոթի Շալամեն կարող է զրվկել «Օսկար»-ից՝ «ոչ ոքի չի հետաքրքրում օպերան և բալետը» մեկնաբանության համար

Թիմոթի Շալամեի հայտարարության շուրջ սկանդալը կարող է ազդել նրա դիրքի վրա Օսկարից առաջ մրցավազքում: Վերջին օրերին դերասանը քննադատության կենտրոնում էր` խոսելով դասական բեմական ժանրերի՝ օպերայի և բալետի մասին:
Variety-ի և CNN-ի կողմից կազմակերպված հանրային քննարկման ժամանակ Շալամեն զրուցել է դերասան Մեթյու Մակքոնահիի հետ: Զրույցի ընթացքում նա օպերան և բալետը անվանել է «մեռնող» և «չպահանջված» արվեստի ձևեր: Նրա խոսքով՝ ֆիլմերը չպետք է կրկնեն իրենց ճակատագիրը, քանի որ ոլորտը փորձում է պահպանել ավանդույթը, չնայած հանդիսատեսի հետաքրքրության նվազմանը:
Դերասանն ասել է. «Ես չեմ ուզում աշխատել բալետում, օպերայում կամ նմանատիպ որևէ բանում, որի շարունակության մասին բոլորը անընդհատ գոռում են, չնայած ոչ ոք այլևս չի հետաքրքրվում դրանով:

Այս խոսքերից անմիջապես հետո Շալամեն փորձել է մեղմել ասվածի ազդեցությունը և խոստովանել, որ հավանաբար թույլ է տվել սարսափելի բան: Ժպիտով նա հավելել է, որ, կարծես, պարզապես «կորցրել է հանդիսատեսի մի մասը» և անտեղիորեն հայտնվել քննադատության կենտրոնում:
Սակայն արձագանքը գրեթե ակնթարթային էր: Հայտարարությունը վրդովմունքի ալիք է առաջացրել սոցիալական ցանցերում և մասնագիտական ​​միջավայրում: Խոշորագույն թատրոնների արտիստները, բալետի և օպերայի ներկայացուցիչները, ինչպես նաև կինոյի բազմաթիվ գործիչներ հանդես են եկել այս ժանրերի պաշտպանության օգտին՝ հիշելով նրանց դերը համաշխարհային մշակույթում և ժամանակակից թատերական արվեստում։

Շալամի քննադատները նաև մեղադրել են դերասանին չափազանց սնապարծության և արվեստի նկատմամբ մակերեսային վերաբերմունքի մեջ։ Համացանցում հայտնվել են մեկնաբանություններ, որոնցում նրա խոսքերը անվանվել են դարավոր բեմական մշակույթի նկատմամբ անհարգալից վերաբերմունք։
Մրցանակաբաշխությունների սեզոնից հետո, երբ յուրաքանչյուր հրապարակային հայտարարություն կարող է ազդել հեղինակության վրա, դերասանի շուրջ սկանդալը ևս մեկ ապացույց է այն բանի, թե որքան զգայուն է մնում մշակութային ժառանգության թեման այսօրվա մեդիա տարածքում։ Դեռևս անհայտ է, թե արդյոք այս դրվագը իրական ազդեցություն կունենա նրա հնարավորությունների վրա առաջիկա մրցանակաբաշխություններում, բայց Շալամեի խոսքերից հետո դասական ժանրերի արժեքի մասին քննարկումը ակնհայտորեն միայն սրվել է։
