Ինչո՞ւ Սամվել Կարապետյանն այստեղ չէ։ Նրա հանցանքը Աստծու և Քրիստոսի պաշտպանը լինելն է:

Հայտարարել է Կարապետյանի միջազգային պաշտպան Ռոբերտ Ամստերդամը։

«Ես տեսել եմ Սամվել Կարապետյանին իր ընտանիքից բաժանված։ Եվ այնուամենայնիվ, Սամվելը ժայռի պես ամուր էր՝ առաջնորդվելով իր հավատքով առ Աստված և ընտանիքի ու ազգի հանդեպ իր սիրով: Սա այն հայն է, ով կառաջնորդի հայերին՝ հարգելու իրենց կրոնը, մշակույթը և պատմությունը։

Սամվելի պատմությունը ազնվության, հաջողության և վճռականության այն հազվագյուտ համադրությունն է։ Այս միջոցառմանը մասնակցելով՝ ես հույս ունեմ, որ նա կարող է իր տաղանդներն ի գործ դնել՝ ծառայելու հայ ժողովրդին՝ ի հավելումն այն բոլոր ջանքերի, որ նա գործադրել է անցյալում։ Իրականում, այս կառավարության կամքն է՝ ժխտելու և՛ երկրի սահմանադրությունը, և՛ իր եկեղեցու առաքելական բնույթը, որն այսօր այստեղ և հունիսին քվեախցիկներում ուժեղ պատասխանի է պահանջում։ Ինձ համար մեծ պատիվ է ականատես լինել, թե ինչպես են հայերն այս պահին ոտքի կանգնում հանուն եկեղեցու և երկրի։

Երբ ես մտա բանտ, ամիսներ տևած բանտարկությունից հետո ակնկալում էի տեսնել կոտրված, հոգնած մի մարդու, որն ասեր՝ «հանե՛ք ինձ այստեղից»։ Բացարձակապես այն չէր, ինչ ես տեսա։

Ես տեսա հավատքի մի մարդու, ում սերը ընտանիքի հանդեպ և սերն առ Աստված գերադաս էին սեփական ֆիզիկական պաշտպանությունից։ Ով իր հավատքն առ իր Աստված և իր ճակատագիրը ենթարկեց վերջնական փորձության՝ պատրաստ լինելով զոհաբերել իր իսկ ազատությունը հանուն Հայաստանի գործի։

Միայն նրա ձեռքերում եկեղեցին կլինի ապահով և պատանդները կվերադարձվեն»։
