Գիտնականներն առաջին անգամ որսացել են Արեգակի գերհազվադեպ միջուկային ռեակցիան

Օքսֆորդի համալսարանի ֆիզիկոսներին և SNO+ կոլաբորացիային հաջողվել է անել այն, ինչին տասնամյակներ շարունակ սպասում էին. առաջին անգամ ուղղակիորեն գրանցել արեգակնային «բորային» նեյտրինոների բախումը ածխածին-13-ի միջուկների հետ։ Սա Տիեզերքի ամենահազվագյուտ միջուկային ռեակցիաներից մեկն է, և դրա հայտնաբերումը նեյտրինոյի աստղագիտության իսկական հաղթանակն է դարձել։ Արդյունքները հրապարակվել են 2025 թվականին։

Ինչու՞ է սա այդքան բարդ

Նեյտրինոները «ուրվական» մասնիկներ են. դրանք գրեթե չեն փոխազդում մատերիայի հետ և լույսի արագությամբ թափանցում են Երկրի միջով։ Ամեն վայրկյան Ձեր մարմնի յուրաքանչյուր քառակուսի սանտիմետրով անցնում են տրիլիոնավոր արեգակնային նեյտրինոներ, բայց հավանականությունը, որ դրանցից գոնե մեկը կբախվի ատոմի հետ, չափազանց փոքր է։

Բորային նեյտրինոները ծնվում են Արեգակի միջուկի ամենատաք հատվածում՝ բոր-8-ի տրոհման ժամանակ. դրանք ամենաէներգետիկ նեյտրինոներն են բոլոր այն նեյտրինոներից, որոնք արտադրում է մեր աստղը։ Տեսաբանները վաղուց կանխատեսում էին, որ դրանք ունակ են պրոտոն դուրս շպրտել ածխածին-13-ի միջուկից՝ այն վերածելով անկայուն ազոտ-13-ի։ Սակայն այս իրադարձության հավանականությունը մոտավորապես մեկ ռեակցիա է միլիարդ տրիլիոն նեյտրինոյի դիմաց։

Ինչպե՞ս հաջողվեց որսալ «ուրվականին»

SNO+ դետեկտորը  տրամագծով ակրիլային գունդ է, որը լցված է  գերմաքուր հեղուկ սցինտիլյատորով և շրջապատված  ֆոտոդետեկտորներով։ Այն թաքնված է  խորության վրա՝ Կանադական հանքի տակ, որպեսզի տիեզերական ճառագայթները չխանգարեն։ Երբ նեյտրինոն, այնուամենայնիվ, բախվում է ածխածին-13-ին, ծնվում է պոզիտրոն և նեյտրոն, իսկ ազոտ-13-ն ակնթարթորեն տրոհվում է՝ արձակելով գամմա-քվանտ. սա տալիս է բնորոշ կրկնակի լույսի բռնկում, որը և գրանցել են տվիչները։

Առաջին անգամ ուղղակիորեն որսվել է բորային նեյտրինոների գերհազվագյուտ ռեակցիան ածխածին-13-ի հետ՝ հինգ իրադարձություն մեկ տարվա ընթացքում SNO+ դետեկտորի վրա։ Սա վերջնականապես հաստատեց Արեգակում միջուկային սինթեզի տեսությունը և փակեց նեյտրինոյի ֆիզիկայի հնագույն գաղտնիքներից մեկը։ «Ուրվականները» շարունակում են բացահայտել աստղերի գաղտնիքները։
